It's a grind for sure, but as long as you love it, it's worth it!

Wow, Kolby. Very impressive. I am maybe halfway through my planned philosophy of language story to submit to your publication, but keep getting sidetracked by work...

Congratulations!

If you haven't done so yet, be sure to read a sample copy of our magazine. It will really help you zero in on exactly what we are looking for.

I loved the story of the MMORPG with AI NPCs teaming up with 4chan-style hackers to blackmail the government into not shutting down their server.

That would make a great film, in fact.

I’ve found with my initial draft of my story that it’s acquiring a slightly sardonic British humour. That might not be the style you are after, but it has in any event been a bit of a (very belated) realisation on my part, that many of the books that have made the biggest impression on me: Catch-22, Candide, Gulliver’s Travels, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, even Animal Farm, all share that drily acerbic humour in pointing out humanity’s absurdities, even hideous cruelties.

Yet I had never really thought of writing ‘seriously’ in that vein. I think it might be the voice I have been searching for. But as I say, maybe not quite the tone you are after.

I shall see if I can do a slightly straighter version to submit to your editors, but may run with the same idea and characters for a longer work exploring other facets of ‘people’s inhumanity to people’.

I know the story you are talking about, I REALLY love that story. In fact, we even developed a teacher lesson plan around that story! https://www.afterdinnerconversation.com/lessonplans/abramas-end-game-short-story

It's been a ton of work with a team of about 100 volunteers over 5+ years, but here we are! You really have to love the work and believe in the mission, otherwise no rational person would do this!

Haha I believe it! But it's gotta be great to get this confirmation that the initial idea was a winner
