This story is more intricate than it appears on first reading. I like how the narrator grew up, realized Tylor's friendly domineering, and moved on. I'll look for more stories from this author.
Have you seen the TV ad (U.S.) for a product called VABYZMO? It's an eye injection. In the ad a woman has just received her treatment from an opthalmologist. She stands up, walks to the back of the doctor's office and OPENS A PORTAL TO ANOTHER PART OF THE EARTH! I want some of that! 👏👏😄🤯🤪
The problem with “a new life” is that you take yourself into it. You’ll recreate the old one anyway. Also, I’m responsible to and for the people and circumstances I’ve helped create.
This is always the problem, isn't it. But what about the situation in the story, it would be hard to argue that a young boy who grew up in a bad situation is the cause of their problems? Or, is it?

An outstanding author for sure! We are huge fans of authors who are able to write in a simple way, yet convey rich and interesting deeper ideas.

I remember that one. If I had to get an eye injection, somebody had better rip open a portal to a perfectly rosy world very soon after!
